Bone-A-Petit!!

Puppy Garlic Paws

Yield: Approx. 100 mini cookies

1 c. un-cooked oatmeal                   1 tsp. low sodium bullion granules
3/4 c. cornmeal                                1-1/2 c. meat broth or hot water
3 c. whole wheat flour                     1 egg beaten
3/4 c. powdered milk
4 cloves garlic minced
1/3 c. un-salted margarine

Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees F. Dissolve bullion in warm meat broth; while broth is still hot, put some of the broth in a blender with the garlic and blend on high.  Pour all broth into a large bowl, add margarine and oatmeal and stir.  Let sit 5 minutes to cool.  Stir in powdered milk, cornmeal and egg.  Add flour, 1/2 c at a time, mixing well after each addition.  Knead by hand, adding more flour if needed.  Roll on  floured surface to 1/2" thickness, cut into small paw shapes.  Place on greased or parchment lined cookie sheet and bake 50-60 minutes, allow to cool and dry out until hard.  Store in air tight container.

Variations: You can use plain flour, and or add shredded cheese.  Or add hamburger grease or bacon grease instead of margarine.  Or add 1 pkg. dry yeast and 1/4 c honey to make biscuits instead of cookies.  They can be frozen but dry extremely well before freezing.
